About

The Maryland State Library (MSL) is an independent agency that provides strategic leadership, resources, and programmatic support to Maryland libraries, including Maryland's academic libraries.

As the state library agency for Maryland, the Maryland State Library administers State and Federal funds to support Maryland libraries in their mission to offer outstanding resources, programs, and excellent customer service.

EDI Web Guide for Maryland Libraries

Maryland State Library (MSL) has created an Equity, Diversity, and Inclusion (EDI) Web Guide for Maryland Libraries. The LibGuide includes a page with information about Staff Training, as well as collection development; programming and instruction; leadership and management; and building an EDI foundation.

Maryland Libraries Training Academy (Niche Academy)

Through MSL, staff at USMAI libraries have access to courses and webinars in the Maryland Libraries Training Academy hosted by Niche Academy.

Librarian's Guide to Homelessness

Ryan Dowd presents the "Librarian's Guide to Homelessness" core training course. MSL's license also provides access to recordings of Homeless Training Institute Premium Webinars.

Homeless Training Institute Premium Webinars

Staff at USMAI member libraries can attend live monthly premium webinars presented by the Homeless Training Institute. Recordings of the webinars are added to the Maryland Libraries Training Academy.

Dismantling Institutional Racism in Your Library

Tobin Miller Shearer of Widerstand Consulting presents "Dismantling Institutional Racism in Your Library: From Theory to Practice." Two additional brief courses are also available.
